Elementary Program

The Lower Elementary program (grades 1-3) is a multi-age environment designed to meet the social, emotional and academic needs of the 6 to 9 year old. The curriculum provides each child with the opportunity to delve deeply into topics and develop an understanding of the relationships between concepts. Children learn through daily observations, discourse, essay writing, rubrics and traditional testing. They also get hands on exposure working on projects and tasks.

The Montessori 6–9 curriculum maximizes exploration, creativity, and independent learning. The world of the child is full of movement, and we prepare the environment with beautiful materials and ample opportunity to connect with nature. This approach facilitates growth and fosters peace while keeping up with the busy and active bodies and brains of young children. Educating according to the child’s needs makes learning much more meaningful and relevant to the child. When we follow the child, learning becomes a gift and not a chore since it is readily accepted, internalized, and mastered. This affirms the child’s efforts, celebrates their progress and achievements, and helps them to learn from their mistakes, setbacks and challenges in a better fashion.

This method of true knowledge helps them build a relationship with many things, and as a result, they discover those areas of giftedness. It also facilitates the holistic development and social behavior of the child. Social & emotional skills helps in keeping the child motivated, healthy, happy and well-adjusted.

Effective adult and child interactions makes learning more respectful, playful, enjoyable, enabling and rewarding. During the elementary program they move into a more advanced technique of conceptual learning. This practical exposure gives a good understanding of the concepts which lies deep rooted and helps children remember the same for life.

Apart from academics, we focus on extracurricular activities at Jackfruit House which gives an opportunity for children to be on their own and paves a way for creative development.
